VIXSOUND on Windows: The AI Assistant for Ableton Comes to PC

For most of its life, the best in-DAW AI assistant for Ableton Live has been a Mac story. Windows producers — who make up a huge share of Ableton users — were left copying prompts into a browser tab or hand-wiring open-source MCP bridges with Python and JSON configs. That changes now: VIXSOUND runs natively on Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit) as a public beta.

It's the same signed desktop app, the same chat panel that sits beside Ableton Live, and the same music-tuned AI that controls your DAW directly. If you produce on a PC, you no longer have to choose between "AI in a browser" and "learn to script the Live API."

What works on Windows today

The Windows beta is not a stripped-down build. It runs the full VIXSOUND feature set:

  • Editable MIDI generation — chords, drums, basslines, melodies in any genre, written to new tracks as MIDI you can shape with your own instruments.
  • Local stem separation — Demucs runs on your PC. Drag a track in, ask for stems, get drums/bass/vocals/other on four tracks. Your audio never leaves the machine.
  • Audio analysis — BPM and key detection with Librosa, locally.
  • Audio-to-MIDI — transcribe an audio phrase into editable MIDI and re-route it to any synth.
  • Mixing and arrangement — sidechain, EQ, compression, balance, and section edits from plain-language prompts, applied as normal Live devices and clips.
  • Voice and any language — hands-free voice commands through your mic, and prompting in any language because it runs on Claude.

VIXSOUND installs its own Ableton Remote Script during the first-run wizard, so there's no Python, no Max for Live, and no config file to edit — the same one-click setup Mac users get.

Which Ableton versions are supported

Ableton Live 11 and Live 12 — Standard or Suite — on Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit). Works on Intel and AMD PCs. Windows ARM64 is not supported yet.

Installing on Windows (and the SmartScreen warning)

  1. Create your account and start the free 7-day trial.
  2. Download the Windows installer — a signed .exe.
  3. Run it. Open Ableton Live 11 or 12 and confirm the VIXSOUND control surface is connected.
  4. Sign in with your email and password, and start chatting.

Because the Windows build is brand-new, Windows SmartScreen or antivirus tools (AVG, Avast) may flag the installer as "unrecognized." This is a reputation warning that fades as more people install it — the files are safe. If you see "Windows protected your PC," click More info → Run anyway. If antivirus quarantines it, choose Allow / Keep / Restore. Stuck? Email support@vixsound.com.

How the Windows build compares to macOS

Feature parity is the goal, and the current beta already matches macOS on capabilities. The honest differences:

Windows 10/11 (beta)macOS 12+

Editable MIDI generationYesYes
Local stem separationYesYes
Audio analysis & audio-to-MIDIYes — localYes — local

Why this matters for PC producers

The whole point of VIXSOUND is that AI belongs *inside* the DAW, not in a browser tab you paste ideas into. Browser-based generators (Suno, Udio) hand you a finished MP3 you can't edit. Open-source MCP bridges give you power but demand developer setup. VIXSOUND on Windows gives PC producers the third option: editable MIDI, local audio tooling, and full session control from chat — with a one-click install and 100% ownership of what you ship.

FAQ

Does VIXSOUND work on Windows? Yes — VIXSOUND runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit) as a public beta. It's the same AI assistant for Ableton Live as the macOS build, with editable MIDI generation, local stem separation, audio analysis, and audio-to-MIDI, and it requires Ableton Live 11 or 12.

Is the Windows version missing any features? No — the Windows beta runs the full feature set. "Beta" refers to Windows-specific polish and installer signing reputation, not missing capabilities.

Why does Windows show a SmartScreen or antivirus warning? Because the build is new, SmartScreen and some antivirus tools flag it as "unrecognized" until it earns download reputation. The installer is Authenticode-signed and safe — click More info → Run anyway, or Allow/Keep in your antivirus.

Does stem separation run locally on Windows? Yes. Stem separation (Demucs) and audio analysis run entirely on your PC; your audio never leaves your machine. Only text prompts go to the hosted AI.

How much does VIXSOUND for Windows cost? The same as every platform: Starter $9/mo, Studio $29/mo, Ultra $79/mo, all with a 7-day free trial and 17% off annual billing.
